Best Portable Power Stations UK 2026

For most UK households the best all-round portable power stations in 2026 are the EcoFlow DELTA 3 Max (2,048Wh, 3,000W, £799) for family blackout backup, the Jackery Explorer 1000 v2 (1,070Wh, 1,500W, £379) for camping and light home use, the Anker SOLIX C1000 Gen 2 (1,024Wh, 2,000W, £999) for the longest 10-year warranty, and the Bluetti Apex 300 (2,765Wh, 3,840W, £1,899) for expandable whole-room backup. All four use LFP (LiFePO4) cells and act as a UPS in a power cut. Portable stations are a different product to installed home batteries — see our comparison guide before assuming one replaces the other.

How we picked (and what we ignored)

We only include models that are on sale in the UK from the brand's own store or a major UK retailer in July 2026, with a published UK warranty. Every unit here uses LiFePO4 (LFP) chemistry — safer and longer-lived than the older NMC cells still found in some cheap imports. We list continuous AC output (what the unit can actually run) and Wh capacity, not misleading 'peak' figures. Prices are inc VAT at 20% (portable stations are consumer electronics and do not qualify for the 0% VAT relief that applies to fitted home batteries). Sale prices move often; treat these as an as-of-July-2026 snapshot.

EcoFlow — the mainstream all-rounder

EcoFlow's DELTA 3 range is the most widely available LFP portable line in the UK.

- DELTA 3 Classic — 1,024Wh, 1,800W AC, £399. Slim, quiet, ~<10ms UPS switchover, 5-year warranty. - DELTA 3 Max — 2,048Wh, 3,000W AC, £799. The sweet-spot family unit: runs a fridge, wi-fi and lighting through a long outage. - DELTA Pro 3 — 4,096Wh, 4,000W AC, £2,499. Approaches installed-battery territory in capacity, but still portable-on-wheels and 20% VAT.

All three use LFP cells rated for ~4,000+ cycles, have a solar input for daytime top-ups, and can chain expansion batteries to grow capacity. UPS switchover is fast enough for a router, NAS or games console.

Backup ≠ bill savings

If your goal is cheap overnight charging and lower bills — not just blackout backup — an installed battery is the right product. Model the payback in under a minute.

Jackery — the camping and light-home favourite

Jackery pivoted its Explorer range to LFP in the v2 generation.

- Explorer 1000 v2 — 1,070Wh, 1,500W AC, £379. Best value entry model in this list. - Explorer 2000 v2 — 2,042Wh, 2,200W AC, £799. Direct competitor to the DELTA 3 Max at the same price. - Explorer 3000 v2 — 3,072Wh, 3,600W AC, £1,471. Larger family-outage or off-grid workshop unit.

Jackery quotes ~4,000 cycles on the LFP cells, UPS switchover ≤20ms, and a 3+2-year warranty (three years standard, two-year extension on registration). The app and physical UI are among the simplest to use, which matters when you're setting one up in a real power cut.

Anker SOLIX — the long-warranty pick

Anker's SOLIX portable line has the strongest warranty in the mainstream UK market.

- SOLIX C300 — 288Wh, £269. The best-value 'weekend and car boot' unit. - SOLIX C1000 Gen 2 — 1,024Wh, 2,000W AC, £999. 10ms UPS, 10-year warranty — the standout guarantee in this size class. - SOLIX F3000 — 3,072Wh, 3,600W AC, around £1,700 at UK retailers (price varies week to week).

The long warranty and the higher-than-typical 2,000W output on a 1kWh unit make the C1000 Gen 2 the pick if you value future-proofing over headline price. LFP cells throughout; solar input on all three.

Bluetti — the modular / zero-downtime pick

Bluetti's UK range covers both simple 'grab and go' units and the more ambitious Apex expandable platform.

- Elite 100 V2 — 1,024Wh, 1,800W AC, £499. LFP, 5-year warranty. - Elite 200 V2 — 2,074Wh, 2,600W AC, £999. LFP, 5-year warranty. - Apex 300 — 2,765Wh, 3,840W AC, £1,899. 0ms UPS switchover (true online UPS), modular expansion up to tens of kWh, LFP, 5-year warranty.

The Apex 300 is the most 'installed-battery-like' portable on this list: 0ms switchover means even a desktop PC without a UPS stays running through the cut, and stacked with expansion packs it can cover much longer outages.

What a portable actually runs in a power cut

Rough spec-based estimates (real runtime depends on the specific appliance, ambient temperature and battery age):

- 1kWh unit (e.g. DELTA 3 Classic, Jackery 1000 v2, SOLIX C1000): a 150W fridge for ~5–7 hours, a 10W wi-fi router for ~3 days, a 60W laptop for ~13 hours. - 2kWh unit (DELTA 3 Max, Explorer 2000 v2, Elite 200 V2): an overnight fridge with lights, wi-fi and phone charging comfortably covered. - 3kWh unit (Explorer 3000 v2, SOLIX F3000): a full day of mixed household loads or a small work-from-home setup.

High-draw resistive loads — kettles, electric heaters, electric hobs, most tumble dryers — will exceed the inverter of most sub-3kW units and typically shouldn't be run from a portable. If you need to boil water in a long outage, a camping gas stove is a better fallback than trying to size a portable big enough to run a 3kW kettle.

Best-for picks by use case

- Family blackout backup on a budget: EcoFlow DELTA 3 Max or Jackery Explorer 2000 v2 (both £799, ~2kWh, 2,200–3,000W). - Longest warranty: Anker SOLIX C1000 Gen 2 (10-year). - True 0ms UPS for computers, NAS, medical kit: Bluetti Apex 300. - Camping / campervan / occasional garden use: Jackery Explorer 1000 v2 or Anker SOLIX C300. - Serious off-grid or long-outage cover: EcoFlow DELTA Pro 3 or Bluetti Apex 300 with expansion packs.

Whichever brand you pick, only compare like-for-like on continuous AC output (not 'peak surge'), Wh capacity, chemistry (LFP only, in 2026) and warranty length. Ignore marketing 'X-Boost' figures — they describe short surges, not sustained runtime.

Frequently asked questions

Do portable power stations qualify for 0% VAT?

No. The 0% VAT relief under VAT Notice 708/6 only applies when a battery is supplied and fitted as a fixed energy-saving material in a residential property. Portable power stations are supply-only consumer electronics, so they carry the standard 20% VAT.

Can a portable power station run my whole house?

No. Portables back up whatever you plug into them via their AC sockets — typically fridge, wi-fi, lighting and small electronics. Whole-house backup requires an installed home battery wired into your consumer unit with a backup gateway.

Can I earn Smart Export Guarantee payments with a portable?

No. SEG payments require an installed, MCS-notified generation and export setup. A portable power station is not connected to the grid in a way that lets you export.

Is LFP really better than NMC for a portable?

For home use in 2026, yes. LFP (LiFePO4) cells are more thermally stable, last more cycles (typically 3,000–4,000+ to 80% capacity) and are safer to store indoors than the older NMC chemistry still found in some cheap imports.

What size should I buy for a UK power cut?

A ~1kWh unit covers a fridge, wi-fi and phone charging for the length of a typical short outage. Around 2kWh covers an overnight cut comfortably. 3kWh+ handles a full day of mixed loads. Kettles and electric heating exceed most portable inverters — plan a non-electric fallback for those.

Which brand has the best UK warranty?

In this list, the Anker SOLIX C1000 Gen 2 leads with a 10-year warranty. EcoFlow and Bluetti offer 5 years, and Jackery offers 3 years plus a 2-year extension on registration.
