OffPeak Energy is founded and run by Eliot Crook. Eliot has run a hands-on family trade business in Devon since 1985 — the kind of work where you meet the homeowner, do the job, and stand behind it afterwards.

OffPeak Energy exists because home batteries are where practical trade knowledge meets the biggest bill-saving opportunity most UK households will see this decade, and nobody was explaining the numbers straight. Installer sites want you on the phone. Newspaper explainers stop at the headline. This site is the middle ground — the calculator, the costs, the tariffs and the honest edge cases, laid out so you can decide for yourself.

Our method

Every technical claim on the site is checked against manufacturer specifications and primary sources — GOV.UK, Ofgem, MCS, and published supplier tariffs. Prices and payback ranges use current UK market data, not marketing brochures. When a number is a range, we say so; when it depends on your tariff, we show you the maths.

We are adding an MCS-certified installer to the masthead as a technical reviewer for practical fit-out claims. That name will appear here once confirmed.

What we don't do
